Lisbon In Pessoa de José Correia Filho

Sinopse:
A Tour and Literary Guide of the Portuguese Capital 3RD UPDATED EDITIONOne day, a journalist passionate about literature came across a guide to discover Lisbon, created by the poet Fernando Pessoa, which was published under the title Lisboa: o que o turista deve ver. From this encounter was born the inspiration for João Correia Filho to retrace the route proposed by the poet and transform his adventure into this guide: Lisbon in Pessoa – Tourist and Literary Guide to the Portuguese Capital. More than a tourist guide, Lisboa em Pessoa is a literary journey through the city, made at the pace of those who prefer to walk slowly, look up and discover poetry in the details. It proposes a trip through Lisbon through the eyes of literature and with the sensitivity of a traveller who believes that knowing a place also means listening to it. Besides the places mentioned by the poet, the author included other unmissable spots for those who wish to explore the city. In this second edition, revised and updated, the poet’s paths encounter new stops, new neighbourhoods, and new points of interest that have emerged in the last decade, adding new perspectives on the city while maintaining the original spirit of the work. The book also includes three extra itineraries: one based on the life and work of Eça de Queiroz, a visit to Sintra, and a route through Lisbon’s most charming bookshops and cafés. To complete it, he created a survival guide to make life easier for travellers during their Lisbon adventures. It includes maps, beautiful images, excerpts from great authors, and dozens of practical suggestions. Besides Fernando Pessoa’s poems, he also included excerpts from the work of other Portuguese writers, such as José Saramago, Inês Pedrosa, and Luís de Camões, who helped the journalist delve deeper into the Lusitanian soul. More than a guide, Lisbon in Pessoa is a fascinating account and a literary journey, which proves to be the ideal companion for those who wish to explore the city with time, curiosity, and soul. Like the author, the book will captivate those who have travel as one of their great passions, and literature as their greatest inspiration.
